Peni Parker remains one of the strongest Vanguards in Marvel Rivals: a zone-control tank who wins fights before they even start by denying entire paths to the enemy team. Her Season 9.5 adjustment softened one specific tool, but the core of the build is untouched.

Playstyle overview

Peni's whole identity is denial. Rather than out-dueling enemies directly, she uses Spider-Sweeper to lock down chokepoints and objectives, forcing rival teams into bad engagements or long detours. Mines and drones chip away at anyone who tries to push through anyway, and that accumulated damage is often enough on its own to break comps that rely on diving in fast.

Season 9.5 change

The one real adjustment this patch: her Cyber-Web Snare stun got reined in, making it noticeably harder to lock down a target compared to before. It doesn't remove her from S-tier, but it does mean you can't rely on the stun as a guaranteed pick anymore — treat it as a strong option rather than a free kill window.

Best team-ups

  • SP//DR Sync (Peni Parker + Ultron) is currently the single highest win-rate team-up in the game, at 70.7%.
  • Rocket Network (Peni Parker + Rocket Raccoon) is one of the highest-impact verified pairings in the current meta, and slots naturally into most compositions since Rocket is already a strong Strategist pick on his own.

The strongest team shape built around her right now is a 2-2-2 anti-dive brawl: Peni Parker + Magneto on Vanguard, Storm + Phoenix on Duelist, and Rocket Raccoon + Mantis on Strategist, anchored by the Rocket Network team-up. This comp leans entirely into zone control and sustained damage rather than burst picks, which plays directly to Peni's strengths.

Is Peni Parker still worth picking after the nerf?

Yes — the Cyber-Web Snare adjustment is a real loss, but her mine and drone control is untouched, and that's the part of her kit that actually wins fights against dive-heavy compositions.

Does she counter every composition?

No — she's specifically strong against dive and flank-heavy team comps. Against a team built around long-range poke and disengage, her value drops noticeably since there's nothing forcing the enemy to walk through her control zone.
