The Frozen Divide: Nix, Throne and Liberty's latest expansion, launched on June 25 and remains the biggest content drop of the year — a new dominion, a brand new weapon, and two new raid bosses that have already reshuffled group content.
Nix, the new region
Nix is the largest dominion added to the game to date: a frozen wilderness built around exploration, verticality, and on-demand dynamic content. It ships alongside level 60 progression, stronger gear tiers, ascended versions of existing Talandre field bosses, and 25 Field Events spread across all five hunting grounds.
Gauntlets: a genuine tank/DPS hybrid
The headline addition is a brand new weapon type: Gauntlets, a close-range hybrid that lets a single player hold threat and deal real damage depending on which combat stance they're in. In its default heavy stance, Gauntlets absorb boss mechanics and hold aggro through raw resilience. Shifting into Eclipse of Blood changes the weapon's whole identity: attack speed and power spike sharply, the gauntlets visually turn into claws, and the playstyle moves from anchoring the frontline to flanking and disrupting from behind.
In practice, this makes Gauntlets flexible across three PvE roles: main tank (heavy stance, absorbing mechanics), off-tank/flex DPS (switching to Eclipse of Blood during burn phases), and Archboss frontliner, where a single build needs both high resilience and real melee damage at once. The most popular early pairings are Sword and Shield (turns a pure tank into a genuine bruiser) and Greatsword (adds AoE and crowd control on top of the Gauntlets' single-target grind).
Two new raid bosses
Archboss Ramux arrived alongside new Archboss-related Codex content and gear, and Colossus Vegamor debuts an entirely new boss category, the Colossus — described by the developers as unlike anything the game has fielded before. Two new co-op dungeons, Stone Grave Cradle and Frostbreath Cave, round out the group content, each with its own unique mechanics.
What's next
The post-launch roadmap already confirmed a new Battleground mode and Dimensional Trials support, alongside Castle Siege improvements — both expected as part of the expansion's ongoing rollout.
Is Gauntlets worth leveling right now?
If you enjoy melee and want a single weapon that flexes between tanking and DPS without a full gear swap, yes — it's one of the few weapons in the game explicitly designed to do both well, rather than forcing a choice.
Does Nix replace the old zones?
No — it's an additional dominion layered on top of existing content, not a replacement. Older zones remain relevant for lower-level progression and existing gear farming routes.
